Lessons a Plenty in 2020
As we approach the end of what has been a very unpredictable year, some people may be solely focusing on the new year and what it has in store for us. However, we believe that it may also be useful to reflect on 2020, however disruptive it has been, and all that we have overcome this year.
The Drum asked their Future 50 top marketers what lessons they have learned from the pandemic. Their responses cover a range of themes: from being flexible, patient, empathetic and future-thinking, to embracing the chaos and ambiguity of these “unprecedented times”.
Here at Born Agency, we have definitely learned a lesson or two this year. As business owners, we have realised that you get as much out of your business as you put in to it. When times have been uncertain we have continued to focus on what we know will help us in the future, for example ensuring that our database remains clean and up to date so that we can continue to reach the largest possible audience. A central element of our mission is to build strong and collaborative working relationships with our clients and this is something that we have continued to prioritise, despite the shift from physical to virtual forms of communication.
Most people have worked from home at some point this year and it has definitely been a bit of a learning curve. It is vital to remember that a child running in the background of a Zoom call or an Amazon delivery arriving in the middle of a Teams meeting doesn’t make you unprofessional, it makes you human! We have tried to focus on the positives of this new way of working: we’ve been able to spend more quality time with our children and integrate ourselves more fully into the local community.
So what’s on our Christmas list this year?
- A stable internet connection for those all-important Zoom, Google Meet and Teams meetings.
- A wider collection of tracksuit bottoms for the perfect WFH look.
- Quality time with family and friends, whilst adhering to the Government’s restrictions, whether that be a festive Zoom quiz, a phone call with an old friend or a socially distanced dog walk.
- Motivation to keep doing what we love!
